WEC 41 Yields Strong Ratings on Versus
The highly anticipated re-match between Mike Brown and Urijah Faber for the WEC Featherweight title went to Brown in a unanimous decision, but the ratings for the showdown proved to be a knock out for WEC and Versus:
NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 12, 2009)—VERSUS…garnered a 1.1 national HH rating and was the top-rated cable network in the country among all key male demos for its live WEC telecast on Sunday, June 7, featuring the most-anticipated featherweight championship re-match in MMA history between Mike Brown and Urijah Faber.
In Sacramento, Faber’s hometown and the fight’s location, the live telecast on June 7 garnered a 2.2 HH rating, making VERSUS the top-rated cable network in the city for the time period.
To this point Faber has been the big draw for the promotion, but we shall see if Mike Brown is able to see something of a rub from taking two wins from the California Kid. Faber will be on the shelf with a broken hand, and in the mean time the WEC will look to build on the momentum of this card with a match up between Brian Bowles and champ Miguel Torres.
