UWC results for ‘Man ‘O’ War:’ Patterson submits Britt quick

UWC 5: “Man ‘O’ War” — an event the promotion billed as the biggest card in the nation’s capital’s history — took place last night in Fairfax, Va., packing a record-setting 6,248 fans into the George Mason University Patriot Center.
While the scheduled main event bantamweight title bout between former WEC 135 pound champion Chase Beebe and Mike Easton was scratched at the last minute because of a late injury suffered by Beebe, the card still provided some solid match ups with plenty of exciting finishes.
Let’s take a quick look into how it all went down.
Matt Hughes HIT Squad member and ex-Elite XC fighter Justin Robbins replaced Beebe in the main event opposite Easton. And on literally days notice, he stayed competitive throughout the bout before succumbing to a third round guillotine choke to the new champion. With the win, Easton moves his record to (6-1) with three of those wins coming under the UWC banner.
In the co-featured fight of the night in Fairfax, International Fight League veteran Jamal “The Suit” Patterson took on hard-hitting knockout artist and “The Ultimate Fighter” (TUF) season eight alum Antwain “The Juggernaut” Britt for the right to become UWC light heavyweight champion.
Patterson — a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt under Renzo Gracie — had previously won all four of his career wins via submission … and last night was no different. After absorbing a couple hard shots from the massive Britt, “The Suit” locked in a fight-ending guillotine choke less than a minute into the fight to become the new 205-pound champ.
He had this to say about the victory:
“I give Antwain a lot of credit. He caught me, but I’m used to getting punched in the face. Today was my day. I got him in a guillotine. That’s my hold. If you leave something out there, I’m going to take it. I’d love to fight in the UFC. Right now, the thing I need to do is get better every day.”
Also worth noting is that the “Fight Girls” reality TV show winner Felice Herrig dropped her first professional mixed martial arts bout by split decision to Iman Achhal. TUF 6 alum Richie Hightower was also on the card, but his fight against Marcus Foran was ruled a No Contest after there were several illegal elbows thrown in the fight.
