Strikeforce adds fights: Is the June 6 card a blockbuster?

Sacramento radio host Carmichael Dave reports that two of the big fighters on the Strikeforce roster now have opponents in St. Louis on June 6. Nick Diaz will fight Scott Smith while Alistair Overeem's first fight in the U.S. since late 2007 will be against Brett Rogers. Just before the Strikeforce San Jose card, Cage Writer first reported that Rogers was the matchmaker's No. 1 choice for Overeem.

Bloody Elbow is calling the card a blockbuster, is it?

Robbie Lawler (16-4) vs. Jake Shields (22-4-1)

Alistair Overeem (29-11) vs. Brett Rogers (9-1) [HW Title Fight]

Nick Diaz (19-7) vs. Scott Smith (15-5) - 180Lbs

Phil "New York Bad Ass" Baroni (13-10) vs. Joe "Diesel" Riggs (29-10)

Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante (7-1) vs. Jared Hamman (10-1)

The Rogers-Overeem fight seems a bit unusual now after watching Overeem and Fabricio Werdum engage in what looked like a fight preview pose (4:00 mark) at the Strikeforce 14 press conference on April 11.

Smith dropping to 180 for a catch-weight fight is no surprise. He actually mentioned a move to 170 in the future. This may be a way to test his ability to cut the weight.
