Shamrock says immature Diaz will crumble in the cage

Nick Diaz is a great fighter but he constantly undermines his reputation by acting like a buffoon. He did it again this week by doing a disservice to the entire sport by bragging to the L.A. Times that he smokes marijuana right up until his events but he knows how to beat the tests administered by the CSAC. It makes the sport look bad to outsiders but Diaz doesn't care what anyone thinks. His opponent at Strikeforce, Frank Shamrock told Cage Potato that the Stockton-native is a nice kid but socially uncomfortable:

"As a fighter I think he expresses himself well in the ring. Obviously he’s got some social and emotional issues."

Cage Potato pointed out the example when Shamrock tried to shake Diaz's hand at the press conference. Instead he got a middle finger fired his way for his efforts. Shamrock thinks he's already in his opponent's head saying the naturally lighter Diaz will try to box early but once he feels some power punches, he'll try to take the fight to the ground:

"I’m going to knock him out in the first round. Yep, first round. I think he’s going to be way too slow, because he’s all blown up for this fight (fighting at 180, well above normal 165-170). I’ll hit him with a right hand to the body, then a right uppercut, and then a left hook, and then he’ll fall down. And then I’ll either jump on him or let him back up. I’ll probably jump on him because I’m getting too old to be dancing around up there."

Shamrock all but guaranteed in the CP interview that he won't attempt a takedown. That gives Diaz a distinct advantage from a strategy standpoint. Maybe Shamrock did a little too much trash talking in that case.
