MMA Content Among New Offerings on PlayStation Network
With MMA available over a myriad of different platforms, add another to the mix as several MMA properties were among the new content offerings available via the PlayStation Network. Multichannel News has the news:
With the additional content, the PlayStation Network video-delivery service will have nearly 1,900 movies and 9,400 TV episodes, covering reality, mixed martial arts, sports, anime, manga and animation genres. The PlayStation Store offers a combined total of nearly 9,000 hours of video-on-demand content, with more than 35% of the movies in HD format.
Sports partners include HDNet Fights, UFC, Wrestling from TNA and Video Action Sports. Sports content will include bouts from HDNet Fight’s “Inside MMA,” wrestling from TNA’s “iMPACT!,” UFC PPV events and Video Action Sports’ “That’s It, That’s All.”
While distribution via XBOX Live and the PlayStation Network is still in the nascent stages, the demographics of the average MMA fan and XBOX/PlayStation online consumer share a lot of similarities. HDNet Fights offerings are interesting because of the increasing move toward HD programming via these delivery channels. HDNet is uniquely situated to meet that demand. They offer similar programming via the XBOX Live (ROH Wrestling, etc.).
