Kimbo says Petruzelli better watch himself in ’sissy’ ice cream shop
The UFC continued the hype for Wednesday's promotion debut for Kimbo Slice on "The Ultimate Fighter" with a teleconference Monday. Kimbo fights Roy Nelson in what's expected to be the highest rated episode in the history of TUF. The fight is so big, it prompted the first ever in-season press meeting with TUF fighters. These calls are tricky because the fighters and the promotion have to be careful not to give away the results of the show, so the conference drifted away from the Nelson fight when Kimbo was told that his nemesis Seth Petruzelli had been talking trash about him.
Petruzelli was the fighter who handed Kimbo his first loss on CBS back in October of 2008. "The Silverback" has repeatedly said that Kimbo turned down a rematch:
"Seth needs to be careful now because we both live in the same backyard, and I know that little sissy ice cream shop [he owns], I can walk in at any given time and go, 'Yo, what's up, man?'" Kimbo told the collected media and MMAJunkie on the conference call.
Petruzelli owns several Smoothie King's in South Florida. That might be a nice ad slogan: "The Sissy Ice Cream Shop!"
Kimbo has repeatedly said that he makes zero decisions on his fight career. His future is all up to his manager Icey Mike:
"No one ever approached me with no rematch with Seth, and I never turned that [expletive] down. That right there is B.S. bull [expletive]. It didn't happen."
Kimbo said Petruzelli had better not sign with the UFC:
"If Seth signed with the UFC, and if Dana [White] and them want to match it up, damn right I'll run it again with him," said Kimbo. "We don't even need to do it in a ring. We can do it bare-knuckle style because I don't like liars. It ain't personal. It's just the fact that it's bull [expletive]."
Kimbo did slip and say that he's training for a fight in December. It wasn't the first time he's said that though, and it doesn't necessarily mean that he beat Nelson and advanced to the TUF 10 Final. In past finales, fighters who had lost during the show's taping have faced off in the finale's undercard.
