Keith Jardine vs Thiago Silva at UFC 102
With yesterday’s blockbuster news that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will fight Forrest Griffin at UFC 101, Griffin’s former opponent Thiago Silva was left without an opponent.
Prior to the fight announcement, MMA HQ writer Brian Oswald speculated that Silva might square off against Keith Jardine. While Silva and Jardine won’t be fighting, Jardine has been named as Griffin’s replacement and will fight Thiago Silva at UFC 102.
Jardine is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Quinton Jackson at UFC 96 while Thiago Silva is coming off a loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 94
UFC 102 is currently schedule for August 29, in Portland, OR. The fight card will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between two former champions, Randy Couture and Antonio Nogueira. Also expected to appear on the fight card are Chris Leben, Junior dos Santos, and Chael Sonnen.
