‘Kane smashes Tim Sylvia’ just a fantasy

Think twice when you read the forums and less than reputable websites before you run with what you hope is a funny story. There was internet buzz early in the week about WWE wrestler Kane and MMA heavyweight Tim Sylvia getting into a Detroit brouhaha. Sylvia, 6-foot-8, 285 pounds, supposedly suffered a broken nose. This from Fightlinker.com:

No details are currently being released on how the fight started. A witness says the two were arguing and Tim Sylvia instigated the fight. (Kane) quickly took Sylvia to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face. The bartender along with a bystander helped pull (Kane) off Sylvia. Sylvia was said to have suffered a broken nose and a black eye. The police were notified but since the fight was not prolonged and neither men wanted to press any charges, no arrests were made. Sylvia was driven by a friend who was with him to the hospital to treat the broken nose. (Kane) left the scene with his wife shortly after.

The Sun spoke with Kane who says it never happened and that he was nowhere near Detroit:

"I was sitting at home at the time and someone told me – that was the first I’d heard about it. I hear I handled it pretty well though. I’m happy with myself! I’m pretty sure Tim won’t hold a grudge."

The 6-9, 300-pound Kane indicated that he thinks that he could hang with the former UFC heavyweight if they ever did get into a bar-room scrap. That’s a real slap in the face of a guy who’s trained as a professional fighter for years.

Thanks to The Sun for some fine Photoshop work
