Dropped from UFC 98, Wilson down in the dumps
Chris Wilson traveled all the way from Brazil only to be let down by a local doctor and bad timing. The UFC welterweight was dropped from the card on Friday morning when his medicals couldn't be cleared. Mike Pyle had been on hold all week and will step in to fight Brock Larson tomorrow night.
Wilson wouldn't indicate what the issue was but sources with the Nevada State Athletic Commission said it wasn't anything serious and Wilson should've been cleared but it couldn't get the needed information from his doctor. Sadly, it wasn't his doctor in Brazil that was the issue but his physician in Walnut Creek, Ca. The doctor was called on several occasions but never returned the call. The NSAC had no choice but to deny Wilson a chance to fight.
"I trained so hard. I paid a strength coach to come in. I did all the dieting. And then there's no reward. The fight is the fun part. That's what it all leads up to."
Watch Wilson with Cagewriter just a few minutes after he found out that he wasn't cleared for the fight:
It's been a lousy two weeks for Wilson, who was also the victim of a home invasion at his home in Brazil last week. Wilson, his wife and two kid were robbed at gunpoint. Off camera, Wilson said he was actually hoping to fight to try and clear the robbery from his mind plus the payday was needed.
